I’m just going to dive in.
Lack of leadership- From the top on down, this is a rudderless ship, or at minimum its a ship where the crew is happy to tell the captain how wonderful his direction and new clothes all look. This is also the case sales wise. A directive is given, and then no follow up from your manager/director. No help/tools to succeed from your manager/director.
Disregard for safety- This one is a doozy. The company loves to speak on their “Zero Harm” culture. One can only surmise that this is to indemnify the organization from the lawsuits that are bound to come around. An egregious safety incident occurred in December of 2019, and no interviews were conducted for three weeks post-event. That only occurred after one of the witness’ of the incident sent the information up over the head of management to human resources. The handling of this event, from management to human resources, was a fail at all levels. The conclusion was that the guilty party was terminated, but so was the employee who made HR aware of the issue. To say he was retaliated against is an understatement.
Misrepresentation- When coming on board, I was told about all of the accounts that would be assigned to me and the idea that there were accounts to grow our share of the wallet. This was not the case at all. Instead, my account list was three active accounts and twenty-eight targets. That was it. While I was given some ramp up time, I will say there was no plan or help from management on the best way to take on this titanic task of business development. Only scrutiny and critique when things were deemed not up to snuff.
