Pros

After working at three different PR/Marketing agencies I can confidently say that Merlot’s agency culture is unmatched. Everybody is so supportive and focused on creating top-tier work, and it shows in the incredible coverage and opportunities that get secured for clients. The leadership and management team has consistently shown support by checking to make sure I am doing okay (professionally and personally), that I have what I need to work successfully, and if I have any questions or feedback about things I am working on. This type of support has made it exciting to work everyday and be in an environment where people not only care about their work and clients, but also about their team. Many of the perks (remote work policy, monthly lunches, weekly team brainstorms, daily check ins to name a few) has created an environment that motivates me rather than stresses me out like past agencies have.

Cons

My only con is that the PTO policy could be more generous (compared to past companies I’ve worked for).

Pros

The team is small, but made up of passionate, hard working and genuine people. I am motivated by my team to work hard and to make it happen. I have been with Merlot for less than a year, but have felt encouraged, challenged and rewarded by this team daily.

Cons

Merlot is a bit traditional in terms of salary, PTO, and benefits. They are not competitive with tech industry so they don't follow the modern "perks"/expectations of wellness/fitness benefits, provided meals, unlimited PTO, etc.

Pros

Hard to think of any.

Cons

Horrible management. They act pro women but hold all the women in the office back. If you want to get promoted and have respect, be a man or work for a different agency.

Merlot Marketing Response

We always appreciate open and transparent feedback, so it’s always disappointing when the first time we hear criticism is on a public review platform versus a conversation with one of us. We try to be open and clear with praise and constructive feedback and ask the same of our team members toward us. At Merlot Marketing, we are pro-professional, pro-employee, pro-client, pro-business, pro-great work and pro-success. We promote based on merit and performance, and given that the agency is run by two women, I question the comment about needing to “be a man” to get promoted. I’m proud to say that our agency’s culture is all about Heart, Hustle and Teamwork. For those that don’t, or can’t, work as a team or perform to our standards, there are wonderful opportunities for them to excel elsewhere. And we wish all of them the best.
