Pros

- Work/life balance is generally good. You can easily get by with a 9-5 schedule - or less. - Strong non-cash benefits package (health insurance, maternity/paternity leave etc) - Compensation is roughly in line with similar biotech firms.

Cons

- Toxic politics at all levels. General chaos and lack of leadership encourages employees to work against each other. People spend much of their time scheming and trying to out-maneuver their peers. If you work here, you won't be able to trust anyone. - Low-quality science and product candidates. Antibody drug programs generally target "yet another receptor tyrosine kinase" picked from the literature. Lack of scientific rationale is then covered up by flashy but pointless "network biology". - Blatant favoritism towards computational scientists ("modelers"), who get handed all important and interesting assignments. If you are an experimental scientist, understand that Merrimack only wants you to do the grunt work, and that you will not have the same career opportunities as the computational scientists. - There seems to be a senseless gender war going on, waged in large part by some of the senior female management.

Pros

The company endeavors to make progress on many fronts; many enthusiastic people.

Cons

Drugs disappearing form the website pipeline, new PR releases boasting the same information time and again, .......in the last year a lot of talent have trampled one another headed for the exit..., some have been released, but most have resigned... the message is clear, "adios." There are two Merrimacks, one that is presented to the public, a Dot-Com looking software genre office décor meant to convey a progressive culture and mind-set. The "other Merrimack," out of public view, looks more like my roommate's closet in grad-school...HazMat site. The culture needs adult supervision.....

Pros

Great location. Their pay range appears to be higher but keep in mind the job you agree to will not be the one you actually do so your income will be lower when you include 10-15 hrs of overtime you'll actually be expected.

Cons

The typical growing pains of any small biotech are exacerbated by lack of leadership and budgetary oversight. Financial and general operating decisions seem to be short sighted and archaic. The culture of the company does not match the image HR and long time employees try to project to candidates.
