Smart, lovely people on a sinking ship with no direction

People are lovely and smart and doing their best

Cons

It is a completely sinking ship. Every day is different and not in the fun learning new things type of way. Projects are started and canceled within weeks if not days. Teams are dangerously lean. No one has any clear direction and leadership won't disclose anything to employees. Money goes out the window as Projects are planned but never executed due to sudden changes in leadership focus

Under Brian’s leadership, Metagenomi maintained a thoughtful balance between employee wellbeing and business priorities. While there were certainly challenges, there was a shared sense that we would navigate them together as a team. The approach emphasized operating lean and managing expenditures carefully, with the underlying philosophy that preserving jobs was more important than maintaining all benefits.

Under the new leadership. Everything changed when the fire nation attacked.

Pros

Great colleagues. For a while, it really was the best job I ever had. Positive environment. In the beginning, the mindset was very positive, even with questionable leadership and communication at best.

Cons

Lack of organization and communication. Secretive leadership. Good people are laid off, while some bad people are hired or remain. Uncertain endgame.
