Pros

There're always new things to learn from the management or the colleagues. The company is willing to invest into skills development.

Cons

It's sometimes difficult to manage work-life balance working from home in a geographically spread business. Not much else to say.

Pros

They will do anything to make money, including skirting the rules: - Bent the RUS rules about final assembly in the US - Does not collect state sales tax - Shipped kit on the first month of the new quarter but counted the revenue in the past quarter

Cons

There are too many to count, but here are the top 3: - Cliques and favoritism are rampant in the whole company. Watch out who you anger. - Managers are trained to be micro-managers (ex. giving feedback on punctuation in an email) - Don't report things to management. You'll be targeted for removal.

Firstly thanks for your detailed review, and apologies for our delayed response. It’s a shame to hear you felt you experiences cliques/favouritism at Metaswitch. We consistently aim to promote and maintain a non-political culture and most feedback we get is in line with this. Having said that, maintaining this culture as Metaswitch grows is definitely one of our challenges so your feedback is useful. In response to the particular points you have raised about rules, we take compliance with laws and regulations extremely seriously at Metaswitch. If you are still working with us please feel welcome to contact me in confidence to discuss these points further so we can address any concerns you have. If you are still working at Metaswitch then thanks again for this info and I hope in the future you feel that these points are addressed. If you are no longer with us then I’m sorry to hear your concerns, but can assure you that we take them seriously and will act on them in the future. I wish you well in your future career. Max - HR

Pros

They will hire you with no software knowledge, and train you well technically in 1-2 years. You'll get as much responsibility as you want to take on, and plenty of exposure to lots of complex technology. There's a decent starting salary for a graduate, and some very flexible working hours.

Cons

After 1-2 years, the remuneration becomes uncompetitive. Base salaries are low compared to other software jobs for your level of experience. There is little or no further training in e.g. management, personal development, certifications etc, and few career opportunities beyond the purely technical. The company has an uncertain commerical outlook, so right now there's some pretty low morale and whether any bonuses will be paid is uncertain.
