Pros

The discount on the merchandise is really good depending what it is.

Cons

The pay is great, regardless of position in the company is great HOWEVER it is not relevant to what you have to handle and put up with on a daily/weekly basis. In the time of being with this company I have seen them play favorites as I watched a manager terminated for failing a drug test but six months prior an employee came back drunk from lunch and they sent them to AA. You have employees that are terminated first time for utilizing their cell phones on the clock instead of working and then others who are told multiple times a day without repercussion. You have employees who can wear clothing that is so revealing that a customer will complain about the dress code in the "family" environment but yet a sales person wear a pair of tennis shoes that are sold there and they are forced to buy a pair of $150 dress shoes. Out of three owners in the company there is not a single one of them that runs it that same, the youngest has high hopes and could achieve complete success with the company if it was just him running it as where the older two will never see the error of their ways. At this point that the entire failure with retention in their company is the inability to step back and not micromanage management or the employees. You have managers at some locations that feel it is acceptable to "date" employees and have no recourse but others who could be late and literally be screamed at by ownership. If they really stood back to figure out the issues in the company it can all be revealed with a look in the mirror. There is not a single employee that actually has respect for the owners of this company but are afraid of them more or less. You have corporate level employees and employees who share the same office with owners who can't stand to be near owners and all the way to general managers talking about the ownership. It starts from the top and the way to lead is by example, not belittling your managers in front of their subordinates. The policies of this company are great in writing and if your caught on the back end of it your screwed unless you are a favorite. Myself and countless other staff watched an employee walk out at lunch and never come back but because he "didn't get along" with some staff he was transferred to another location. Yet those same staff that he "had a problem with" have cost other people their jobs and continue not to do theirs and do as they please. The entire company and practices of the company are completely inconsistent and followed by some and not by others as well as picking and choosing what to follow. I hope that one day MetroShoe Warehouse figures it out that they entire basis of the company is the people working for you and when you hire in a rush to fill a store with "bodies" that walk out and let go of people that have given entirely too much time to the company THAT is where it starts to fail!

Pros

Commission was nice and it wasn’t too tough to make decent money. You don’t have to be extremely motivated to do well, just focus on customer relationships and product knowledge.

Cons

The owner of MetroShoe is unprofessional, arrogant, degrading, and bigoted. He sees nothing wrong with any of his behavior and has no issue with making people feel small. This would be less of an issue if he was not frequently popping in and out of his stores. The MetroShoe Project (philanthropy) is great, however.
