Pros

Excellent company to work for. Very organized. Employees are enthusiastic and welcoming. There is a high value on guest experience. As an employee, you get access to the great facilities. Overall Midtown is a great, upscale company with excellent people and the opportunity to learn and grow.

Cons

Some downsides were the pay. Midtown could definitely offer more competitive pay for its employees. Perhaps more integration between different departments would have helped foster communication between employees, as well.

Pros

I cannot think of a single pro. This is the first job in my life I have genuinely disliked and dreaded.

Cons

Horribly unorganized management No career growth No employee appreciation or recognition Severely underpaid Clearly exploit their high-school and college workers The company tries to have this weird "zen" "namaste" vibe but it's borderline culturally insensitive and completely awkward as if they're a "diverse" workplace. My midtown has maybe 3 people of color employed, and a majority are only hired in the stereotypical housekeeper position. Work/life balance is terrible, scheduling is rarely what employees request as their availability, and are asked to come in on days you've listed as unavailable. It's very, VERY obvious the company only hires stereotypically "attractive" employees that are out on the floor of the club and facing members.

I am really sorry to hear that your experience as a Front Desk teammate at Rochester was so poor. Please let me assure you that our aim is to provide a safe, open and enjoyable environment with lots of opportunities to grow. I don't know what went wrong for you exactly, but I will be looking into it. Thanks for the feedback and again, I'm sorry this was not the experience either of us wanted it to be for you. However, I have to push back on the some of what you say, as it's patently untrue. We never, ever hire based on looks; I'm not sure what is culturally insensitive about wanting to help people better themselves and there is no way we financially exploit any of our team - we pay above market rates for all jobs and offer full benefit packages that outstrip all of our competitors. 70% of people on our senior teams' have been promoted from inside the business and we have monthly opportunities to provide feedback directly to myself in the form of anonymous surveys and/or open townhall questions.
