Working at Midwest Autism Center was one of the most disappointing professional experiences I’ve ever had. Upper management consistently demonstrated poor soft skills, weak communication, and a serious lack of leadership ability. There was little to no genuine care for staff or clients — decisions were always made with profits in mind, not people.
Policies and procedures constantly changed because the company was perpetually “in the red,” creating an unstable and confusing work environment. They even hosted “round tables” where staff were belittled and blamed for financial losses, being told we didn’t bring in enough revenue to cover the company’s debts to funders.
When staff raised concerns or requested improvements, nothing was ever resolved or followed through on. Morale suffered because leadership refused to take accountability or make meaningful changes.
Overall, this organization prioritizes money over mission and fails to support both its employees and the families it serves. Truly the worst company I’ve ever worked for.
