Most Disorganized Company I've Ever Worked For

Pros

The only good thing about this job is that I was able to make my own schedule and work as many hours as I would like. I did have some good employees and there were plenty of times where I had down time at the job where I could do what I want. I was put in a lot of challenging situations with patrons that helped me improve my customer service skills.

Cons

I could write a novel on the cons of this job. I've worked for a couple different park districts and several pools, and Midwest Pool Management was by far the worst experience I have had. In short, despite Midwest Pool Management knowing our pool was to open for over a year at least, yet we were understaffed, undertrained, and just a disorganized mess the entire summer. In addition, I questioned the staffing decisions. My coworker would yell and call employees names in addition to doing inappropriate things with employees. I was hired last minute and thrown into my position with no training. My supervisor kept making the excuse that "we were all thrown into this" but I applied for the same position LAST YEAR (so they had plenty of time) and this company's purpose it to run pools. Their excuse was not an adequate one. Management was forced to give minors and teenagers working their first job 50 or more hours and break labor laws because of how badly Midwest understaffed. When I lifeguarded previously, I was given weeks of training. My staff got nothing. As a result, I had to continuously critique them on the job when they were supposed to be rescue ready. My employees seemed frustrated at management for their hours and lack of training, which was something that was on Midwest. I was made to feel silly for voicing my concerns and cut short when I tried to discuss feedback I received. Because of the total lack of communication, events and changes would happen at my pool without my knowledge. I wouldn't have time to prepare my employees for such events, which would then make patrons upset.
