Pros

Company works like a well-oiled machine . There are systems in place to where nothing feels shaky. Everything tried and true ! If you start from any position here there is someone who can help you who has been there from 30 to 100 years . They’ve seen it all!

Cons

The stability works to the company’s detriment- they do what they do and there is no wiggle room for the retail staff to grow or make any difference whatsoever. This is immensely suffocating to anyone looking to spread their wings. They lose employees over this, and there is no HR or exit interview , by design I am sure. I truly believe the corporate portion of MF couldn’t care less why their retail staff leaves or how they feel in the now . Also, if you’re looking to find a career in fashion , MF is not the place for you. They are PAINFULLY slow to react when it comes to trends and their market is no longer young or even New Orleans locals really. What used to be fashion staples for every true lady of New Orleans is now, in 2018, far more popular outside of parish lines . If you’re interested in selling a luxury brand and have a fondness for silver charms, wide cuffs, and stations necklaces than this is brand a good match for you. You’ll learn a lot about selling and the history of a Louisiana icon , just make sure you’re able to stand on your feet for hours on end. Retail staff- prepare to work weekends . Full time employees get only one Saturday off each month.

Pros

Great jewelry discount; kind, intelligent co-workers. I enjoyed my time here for one reason: the camaraderie with my co-workers. Flexible schedule, depending on your manager. Managers are great—-corporate, not so much.

Cons

Corporate has demonstrated over and over that they truly could not care less about their sales associates. I highly recommend looking elsewhere. If are a sales associate, you will be seen as highly expendable, unintelligent, and lazy, despite the work itself being physically exhausting, stressful, and sometimes even emotionally taxing to the point of burnout. No retail job that pays so little should be this difficult. The company as a whole is struggling with a lack of communication between departments, as well as general pettiness and lack of professionalism polluting the entire establishment. It’s a shame really, Mignon is a wonderful artist and designer whose company would indeed have a future, if only Corporate would learn to treat their employees with the respect they deserve, and to LISTEN to their sales associates. This brings me to my last point: the customers. Never in my life have I been so disrespected and belittled by the general public, and all for being a sales associate. The truly horrible customers are by far the worst aspect of this job, and I was only able to handle the constant barrage of rudeness and greed by commiserating with my colleagues, all of whom were lovely, thoughtful people.
