      Pros

      You're helping students in their professional development

      Cons

      The managerial staff walks around like they want you to worship them for their advanced degrees. They talk about Miles like it's the best thing since sliced bread, but the truth is, the management team is incompetent. Miles is not exactly a highly rated school, so you know that as you come in, you are there to help build up the community. But they literally act like they don't see the pink elephant in the room, which makes them so defensive that it is hard to take constructive, respectful criticism.

      Pros

      Miles has a great community atmosphere. Great history and tradition, an HBCU that prides itself on giving opportunities to those who have very little opportunities.

      Cons

      Students are not challenged enough curriculum wise, standards are lowered to meet a a large percentage of the student body that is not ready for higher education due to an "open door" policy. Faculty is not given the power to instill discipline that would create the ideal academic environment. Attendance is a major problem. There must be a real mandatory attendance policy in place that has concrete and school wide uniform consequences if it is not met by students. Faculty are threatened about job security routinely by the Academic Dean. Also pressured to have certain pass fail rate numbers or face consequences of possible termination.
