Very toxic law firm

Pros

There are work from home opportunities.

Cons

I have been working in law firms for 20+ years. Miller Nash was one of the worst, most toxic environments I have ever encountered. It is full of big brother micro-management from a team of managers who not only play favorites, but also gossip about the staff they do not like. The management team drives this firm into the ground and into the red. Leadership created a culture driven by fear rather than support and collaboration. Communication from management was inconsistent and often contradictory, making expectations really unclear and setting employees up to fail. Management consists of unstable and morally corrupt individuals who do not care about the staff. There is constant belittling of staff members and when legit concerns are raised you are threatened with your job and then the concerns were dismissed. Some staff members get dog piled on with work when others skip work when they know they have big upcoming court filings so that others will have to do it for them. The management team and HR collectively make this firm a total nightmare to work for with their catty behavior and internal drama rather than professional leadership. Communication with management felt immature and inconsistent creating confusion and unnecessary tension among staff. You will be made to feel less than and you will be gossiped about to other staff members. Overall working here affected my mental health greatly. There is no support from the higher ups, zero room for professional growth opportunities for staff, and you are constantly made to feel less than. Lastly, the lack of accountability by leadership contributed to low morale and high turnover.

Pros

* Some supportive attorneys who try to make the work bearable * Remote work environment

Cons

* Extremely toxic, gossipy management that retaliates if you speak up or report misconduct * No real structure or consistency — rules apply to some staff but not others * Onboarding is almost nonexistent (no training on basics like conflict checks or calendaring deadlines) * Staff “appreciation” week feels insulting — leftover swag that attorneys don’t want * Annual holiday party is in the office lobby after hours on a weekday, with low turnout * Culture values silence and compliance over skill or integrity
