Pros

--Wonderful students --Freedom to design your own curriculum / teach what and how you want --Lots of vacation time

Cons

Head of School Todd Bland talks out of both sides of his mouth. He is a classic "lax bro" who pretends to understand issues of equity, racism, and class but truly is unable to see past his own privilege. He constantly begins meetings by telling staff how much he "loves" them, but has allowed his head of "inhuman" resources to create a culture of fear and distrust where colleagues "investigate" one another for alleged infractions claimed by vigilante students using social media to defame career educators. Job security here is a joke (they fired a teacher who gave 40 years of her life to the school a mere 6 weeks before she retired). There is no humanity or empathy in the people who hold administrative positions. They are all about serving the bottom lines of money and reputation. Don't be fooled by the verdant quads and brick buildings: this place is poisonous.

Pros

Relative job security- the place is OLD and has a huge endowment, it proably won't go out of business any time soon. Some great perks like free lunch in the dining hall for everyone and many upper school teachers receive free housing on campus. Supportive of work life balance, infrequently had to work from home or after hours.

Cons

In conversation with other employees found there were extreme discrepancies in compensation for people with the same title and same experience. Compensation management seemed poor. On the administrative side it did not feel like there was much room or support for career growth.
