Pros

Culture has qualities you will find nowhere else. Great place to start in the working world. They will take you with nothing and give you marketable skills. Novelty of doing your part in keeping society from crumbling.

Cons

You will be paid $20,000 less a year for your trade skill than you would as civilian while being required to hold to soldier skills as well. Current TAG is a politically correct sobriety advocate engaged in a reduction of force effort starting with anyone who is not in his pocket. You don't focus on your job as much as how not to commit suicide, how not to rape and something called resilience training. Rank and position are not gauged to an individual's competency levels. Nowhere else will you find it so common for smart people to be working under the direction of witless egomaniacs.
