Modern Aviation's leadership creates a very toxic environment for it's lower level supervisors and managers. Modern has demonstrated that they truly prioritize income over their customers, employees and even safety. Their lack of proper resource planning results in many employees falling behind on work. I know of numerous employees, including myself who worked 10-12 hour shifts, sometimes 7 days a week, just to try to keep up. When I brought this up to my manager, his answer was "I guess you need to start working more hours". Myself and other managers have pleaded for additional tooling, training and resources to be able to do our jobs successfully. The number of times that we gotten what we needed is heavily outweighed by the times we did not. When we failed due to not having the proper tooling, training or resources, I was reprimanded for it. Modern often boasts about their safety culture. Impressively, many locations are IS-BAH Stage 2. Yet in my experience, a large majority of the time that a safety issue was identified, it was simply acknowledged and not resolved. One more than one occasion, an employee injury eventually resulted, and still nothing was done. I also witnessed several ethical violations, though I cannot expand on those without revealing my identity. One of them however, greatly jeopardized my career. I brought this specific occurance up to corporate leadership, who dismissed any wrongdoing.
The bottom line is that if you want to work at Modern, have a plan. Modern is not a place that you can work to receive formal training to further advance yourself in your career.
