Pros

Nice office. That's about it. It felt like a bait and switch. Seems very professional and established until you start working there.

Cons

Where do I start. Upper management in the finance and accounting department is terrible. David Leer was head of accounting and finance and is now the CFO. He is one of the worst people I've ever encountered in a work environment. He treats his employees like trash and he is very rude. Not to mention that he was never there to manage. They tried to implement their own property management division and hired in house staff to implement the Yardi system and and it failed horribly. Thus financials could not go out on time and instead of taking responsibility they blamed it on lower level employees. How can we do our work if the software constantly has errors. I've seen VPs get into near psychical altercations on the floor. There is no HR department, so expect work place abuses to occur. Lastly for managing such profitable real estate, the compensation is terrible. The bonus was laughable at best, 1% of my salary. A server could make more in tips on a Friday night.

Pros

Great company to have on your resume. You make really good connections.

Cons

You have to become accustomed to an abusive work environment. “Find someone to blame” is used as a solution more than “let’s figure this out as a team”. Every department VP is in competition with each other so the lower level employees become a disposable pawn in their war. Anyone from any department can speak to you anyway they please. Don’t bother looking for your department head to stand up for you because they will most likely further belittle you in front of everyone. There is no HR department so there is really no one to go to to help rectify these issues. There are no yearly reviews, therefore the bonus is laughable. There are no raises. As long as your are attractive, they will do their best to keep you; regardless of how much knowledge you lack. You are hired under one impression of what your duties will be, however, you end up doing way more without being compensated. The turnover rate is extremely high and the company takes forever to hire so that person’s duties will be dumped on your plate. They will not say thank you, they barely offer help, nor will they offer compensation. They just expect you to get it done and when you don’t, they will throw you under the bus. This results to no work life balance. Leadership? What is that? Some managers are hardly ever in the office. They get 6 figure salaries and would not even know what to do if every employee in the office left.
