Pros

Competitive salary and the lower level employees are great.

Cons

MoneyLion is the most chaotic company I’ve ever worked at. The CMO left so they purchased an advertising agency with very little evergreen marketing experience (they specialize in social media and advertising) and deferred all marketing leadership responsibilities to them. The agency has no clue what they’re doing, and they don’t touch base with the internal marketing team so everything is adrift and there is no guidance. If you’re new, you’re left completely to your own devices with no onboarding whatsoever. There are constant layoffs, and they come out of the blue. The people who are laid off are treated very poorly (HR says “you’re underperforming” and cuts off your tech within an hour). The truth is, the company isn’t doing well financially so they have to get rid of people. Leadership doesn’t know or care about what’s happening on the ground level. They’re completely detached from what individual departments are actually doing and have grandiose plans that aren’t achievable from a bandwidth perspective. The team in Malaysia is praised for churning out work and hitting fast deadlines, but in reality, almost everything they’ve been making is full of errors, and the US team scrambles to clean up their mess. There is no upward mobility because leadership would rather hire externally for management than people who know the company well. This leads to a perpetual cycle of people coming in with their own visions instead of understanding or listening to the employees’ needs. Most of the time, the people with management titles aren’t managing at all, and they don’t check in with their subordinates. They let their teams manage themselves and only step in when they need something (so they add more work instead of managing workflows or any other needs). Probably worst of all, you’re not expected to have a life if you work at MoneyLion. They want your weekdays, nights, weekends, and first unborn child. You’re not praised for your talent or how you help others; you’re praised for dropping everything you’re doing and jumping on every whim no matter the time of day. There is no regard for your time or mental or physical health. HR is equally clueless, and they’ll probably write some “We’re sorry you feel that way” response under my review. But it will all be to look good to prospective candidates. If you value a happy and productive life, do not work here. Everyone is burnt out and talks about quitting. A good amount of people recently quit all at once and the others fear layoffs or are actively interviewing.

Pros

Free lunch. Okay-ish pay. AL unlimited (but with a catch)

Cons

Extremely Toxic Environment. Avoid At All cost. Extremely micro managing managers, co workers. You’re less likely to get applauded for your good work, but will be punished & roasted if you do the tiniest mistake. The team lead don’t care what day what time, even weekend after working hour also they will ping you & ask you to work (that’s why they willing to give you unlimited AL). HR team is another useless team, no matter how hard you raise the conflicts and issues you face they just ignore and make a sweet face without taking any action. The whole 1 year working at MoneyLion was dark phase of my entire career. The company is very loud about closing gender gaps and racial bias, and gives you a lot of modules to prevent bias & racism in company. However, at the “MALAYSIA OFFICE” you can feel the bias & racism. There is no balance racial distribution in the company. Please do, what you preach! Very unlikely to see darker skin tones for the fact the CEO is a brown person (but he is at US. Malaysian office is managed by whole different gang). Thank god I left the company and many people from different teams too share the same view I had and left. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!

Pros

None that I can think of

Cons

Unethical management team tried to mess with employee bonuses. 'Stock plan' was kept hidden from employees and rules that seemed to appear and change but were constantly just false and there to protect management. Priorities and direction changing constantly. I heard people yelled at by management in meetings. The CEO pushes a vision that keeps changing but really its just about him living the big life. We lost 4 top executives earlier this year in about two months and the entire staff is a revolving door. People are expected to work 60+ hour workweeks and with tech teams in malaysia this means very early or very late meetings many times per week. HR is a mess.
