Pros

- Fresh fruits available - Coffee machine is good - You will get to work with some fun people - Flexible working hours - Working from home allowed

Cons

- There is no quality process in place and code is merged into master with ZERO tests created for new features - Very bad communication between offices - Environment that doesn't foster collaboration and improvement - Some of my colleagues are in mental exhaustion and C-level absolutely don't care about employees - CEO barely talk to the employees that are not from his background - CEO doesn't inspire anyone in the company and often micro-manages processes of the business - It's an Italian company totally oriented to it's background and London office is just a support office to it's Italian operation

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We take all concerns seriously and have recently implemented new schemes to identify opportunities to improve even further eg. we conducted an employee survey to understand how our employees feel about Moneyfarm, its culture, working environment, our managers results of which showed that the vast majority of our staff have a positive outlook. Nevertheless, we will continue working to improve in all areas as this is in our DNA and any feedback which can help us to do so is greatly appreciated.

Pros

- Great CIO who really know what he’s doing and leads a good investment team - There are some great and clever people at Moneyfarm who are really interesting to work with - Moneyfarm allows for very flexible working and good holiday allowance. - There is not a stressful environment and you rarely feel under pressure.

Cons

- Office atmosphere is very lacking. Very quiet and not much socialising between teams. - Lack of structure can make the work a bit hectic and hard to really specialise in something. - Majority of employees in many teams are Italian. As a non-Italian speaker it’s easy to feel like a spare part. - Lack of diversity. - CEO needs to control everything. Teams are at the beck and call of him and it doesn’t feel like there’s much trust. - Pay is low and it feels like there is little scope for progression. - The company generally feels very stingy, don’t expect and pay increase unless the company feels it has to and don’t expect much expenses spared on employee events or social occasions. - Interim CTO was unwelcoming and unprofessional. I don’t think conduct was taken too seriously at Moneyfarm.

Mafia-style leadership, poorly executed concept

Pros

As with many start-ups in London, great idea but sadly, this is not enough when implemented and led by the wrong people. You start off believing you are part of a family, have autonomy and can change things and soon realise the CEO and his cronies rule the roost.

Cons

- CEO is much more comfortable speaking, listening and interacting with employees of the same background as himself. If you do not fall into this category and dare to have an opinion or challenge, things start to go downhill. - CEO sees himself as a specialist in all areas. - CEO keeps incompetent yes-men around him to maintain his ego and strength. - I have seen many good people leave out of frustration, being sidelined, overriden or pushed out. - Promotions are centred around kinship, loyalty and obedience.

Thanks a lot for sharing your opinion with us, I am really sorry you had a bad experience at Moneyfarm and we had to take some decisions differently from what you believe was right. One of our core values is transparency and openness and this is what you have done so here and I really appreciate it. Even if I understand where your perception of the management style might be coming from, our intention has always been to create a diverse environment where everyone can thrive and I think we are achieving more and more in this area. It is true that we, as a company, value loyalty and what comes with that all employees who have helped us building Moneyfarm from scratch and proved themselves in better but also in worse times. But I also think that we are always open to different views and fresh ideas and as a company we often get feedback from others that we are quite good at that. Debate is a big part of our culture and the way we run things and where I personally believe a candour truly matters. As the process of scaling continues, sometimes we have to adjust and everyone, including myself, is taking every possibility for self learning and improvements. So hopefully, if you come back, you'll find that we've grown as a company and as a team. - Giovanni, CEO
