Pros

Coworkers are friendly and very helpful for the most part. Patient assignments and ratio are probably the largest positive of this job. Doctors and APP are friendly. Have a very advanced EPIC system. Tries to staff for a charge nurse and flex nurse.

Cons

Large amount of nurse to nurse bullying which management turns a blind eye to. Very little nurse retention Mandatory rotating shifts for the first 5 years with very little care about work life balance. Pay sucks compared to cost of living. Very little raises or none at all. Has clinical ladder for extra pay but lots of extra unpaid work required to get a good amount. Benefits are EXPENSIVE with no good reward. Be prepared to pay even more out of pocket on top of what MH takes out of your check.

Great team around me. Very humbling.

Cons

Senior leadership. It is obvious that the management pool in the Black Hills is very thin. Most are incompetent, pay lip service to the 5 values and really do not care about caregivers under them. The HQ on Regional Way is nicknamed "Taj Mahal" for a reason. CEO means well as does RC President but both are guilty of willful blindness and have surrounded themselves by leaders who only care about the title and are adept at climbing the corporate ladder only.

Poor raises, disrespectful management is not employee-friendly, short staffed, no competitive hospitals in area to make this company be better. They just sent out a notice that they are reducing our retirement contributions, lol. Multiple requests for better equipment for our patients go ignored. They would rather save a few bucks and not bring their equipment up to date.
