Pros

Best selection around, could always find what the customer wanted. Quick delivery on many items as well.

Cons

Long hours and unpaid hours. You are paid a salary for 40 hours but work 45-50 hours a week with only a 30 minute lunch if you are lucky. You are not paid for working Saturdays which you have to work and any time taken off is docked from pay. Very little paid time off as well. Forget leaving on time.

Pros

I truly enjoying interacting with customers, designers, builders and contractors on a daily basis. No project was ever the same, and it made the job a lot of fun.

Cons

In my two years with the company, staffing was a continuing problem. We never had quite the right number of trained staff at any given moment, making it very hard for everyone to keep up and be on the same page. Direct supervisor didn't seem to truly take staff's opinions and issues to heart, making it a difficult work environment. Training "program" involves nearly all computer based videos and quizzes, which may or may not be the best way for some people to retain information. You're lucky if they can squeeze you into a week long training camp at corporate. As another former employee stated, they need to take care of their own, and say GOOD JOB every once in a while. I for one can say that I feel as though I went above and beyond on several occassions, and it was unrecognized much of the time. I can also say that other employees felt/continue to feel underappreciated and undervalued. I'm a firm believer in moral, which was seriously lacking. Overall a good learning experience for me, but perhaps not the right fit.

Pros

Let's be serious, Mo Tile has the best product offering around. They are constantly expanding their product offerings to include the latest and greatest. The customer is treated with the utmost respect and valued to the core. The central warehouse manager is incredibly talented and seems to always deliver on time. The design teams at the individual branches care about aesthetics and function, so you won't end up with something gorgeous, but completely impractical. The corporate training program is smart, extensive, and well intentioned. They put a lot of effort into creating the "Mosaic Experience." They allow corporate staff and the sales team to work remotely. If you want something imported from another country that isn't stocked at a Mosaic Tile warehouse, their import team is top notch in terms of getting product to the customers in a timely fashion. They throw fun annual staff retreats.

Cons

The compensation structure is lacking for the corporate support staff and in the non-manager branch employees. The executive team is rewarded handsomely, while everyone else falls flat. If you can't afford to give your support staff at the very least, annual cost of living increases, why are some members of the executive team making $300,000+ per year? The corporate support staff is comprised almost entirely of women, while the executive team (4 people) is comprised of 3 men, 1 woman. My assumption is because women cost less to employ. There is almost no diversity in their corporate office. The breakdown is 3 African Americans to approximately 18 Caucasians. They used to 401K match 100% up to 6%, but that has disappeared and they only half match up to a certain dollar amount. The health insurance plans offered are usually top tier, but pretty expensive. The PTO structure is pretty terrible for anyone who has been there less than 3 years. Management always a conveys a sense of guilt on the employee whenever they want to use paid time off.
