Yes, there are snacks. Yes there is a VW bus in the new office space. Every leadership team member has an executive assistant to manage their email and calendar (even if that headcount could be put to much better use.) How does any of that really help the (mostly underpaid) staff do their jobs?
The CEO is only concerned with his image. He is a wanna-be who tries to make his little appraisal services company look like a technology company. Considering the resources available, it realistically probably never will be. After spending excessive money to build out an unnecessarily upgraded office space for the “growing” team, he immediately laid off almost 20% of the company, with no warning, treating them like criminals in the process.
The recent mass layoffs were handled very badly, with no warning, no communication, and no apologies. Apparently leadership really loved their employees until the CFO guided the company into financial difficulties. (The CFO, oddly, still has a job there.)
The founders can’t tolerate anyone who disagrees with any of their misguided, sometimes immature opinions and are determined to create an echo chamber leadership team. You’ll do great on the leadership team - so long as you don’t actually have an opinion.
