Hired to bring top tier investment firms to the ADGM. Instead it became a weird experience of backing friends of connected friends. Had to string a lot of professional firms along whilst backing very small niche players who had personal connections and long term friendships. Bad for managing professional reputation and network. Lots of internal relationships - both romantic and family which make it a very complicated place to work in. Shocked by how unprofessional it is and they way poor performance has been rewarded at the senior management level. We also had to engage with the venture capital team which is beyond a joke.
