Pros

Good health insurance. Had the pleasure to work for some excellent professional attorneys but even the very best will turn on you when it fits their agenda

Cons

It take years to get to a decent salary. Actually, I was the last target left standing so I consider myself fortunate. If you are not a robot type of employee and you have a mind of your own, then this Firm is not you because the people in personnel have an ego the size of Jupiter. It's truly an ego power trip to the point where the staff is scared. It's dreadful, and silence reigns supreme in this office. The managing partner walks the office like a warden checking on everyone twice a day, mid morning and right after lunch. This office went from being friendly years ago to completely stale. So my best advice: if you ever work at the OC office, stay clear of partner Sandra Wetzler if you want to hang on to your job. Her tongue is lethal! I am happy and in a good place now and have moved on to higher goals. But you don't treat a stellar employee from a Hero to a Zero in a spam of a month. Have some respect. Overall, the billable hours are very difficult to meet because the case load is simply not there like it used to.

Pros

The offices are beautiful and comfortable. Most of the support staff is friendly and helpful. Very modern IT system and Word macros make the writing part of lawyering a breeze here.

Cons

The firm was barely surviving from 2008-2010 and ended up conducting stealth layoffs of at least 5 associates, but they were all told it was for performance reasons. The firm didn't want to look bad so it pointed a finger at once "superstar" associates and told them bald-faced lies about their performance. The employment department is weak from multiple defections. The firm caters to insurance companies that keep demanding lower rates. Learn your craft here then get out.
