Pros
Good place for on the job training. Employees gain valuable exposure to private sector market research and the motivations prompting the work. Wording research results to reflect findings yet not insulting the client is another skill developed at NAHBRC.
Cons
Research is tied closely with the desires of the lobbying parent, NAHB. This detracts from the non-bias perception that is valuable for a research organization. Work is also limited to the desires and interests of the parent organization thus limiting the variety of necessary and exciting work that exists in the field.
