Pros

Some good people, decent remuneration, good for you if you're able to connect with right people, fun mandates depending on the group you land in.

Cons

Fleeting reputation, energy drainer, most in management position are there "surfing" on lack of competency, teamwork is a concept and if not in one or another click -good luck. Not a sane or professional /personal growth environment.

Pros

Great clients. Good reputation in industry. Central downtown Toronto location

Cons

Despite what they tout about diversity, unless you're a white male you will likely never get hired and if you do you will never move up. They have a very strict white males first policy, written or not. Visible minorities are generally filtered out in the application stage, by their names. However, if they don't know you're a minority you can make it to interview stage but will not likely make it passed the first or second interview. Those minorities who have been hired have generally been leaders in government or worked for leaders in government and bring something extra that trumps their skin colour. Just look at the team makeup on their website if you need further proof. Once in a while a junior visible minority gets in but they will leave as they will never get promoted and will instead languish in the junior ranks for a lifetime or until they are pushed out.

Pros

great client roster, nice office in a central location, room to implement projects you are most interested in.

Cons

Toxic environment with lots of gossip , sexism and high employee turnover. The bottom line is that they don't pay their employees enough. People bend over backwards for the company and it is never reflected in their pay. NATIONAL only steps up their game when the person is out the door, coming back at them with a significantly higher pay to get them to stay. It's disrespectful and the reason most believe leave. Additionally, NATIONAL keeps hiring strategists who can't do anything. They sit in meetings and talk about big ideas and no one gets any work done.
