Rush To Judgement

Pros

The organization is a great place to work however NCQA is in a rapid downward spin at its current trajectory it will not be a recommended place to work.

Cons

The most troubling issue is the organization removed an executive who was beloved by his team and the organization as a whole. Now the facts are starting to come out, A definite rush to judgement, and now that the individual who filed the complaint and started this whole situation has left the organization and now she has been open and vocal on how she set him up, lied, fabricated text messages and emails. This is only important because when James left the organization started this downward tail spin and it continues to this day. The moral is at its lowest in my time here. Its sad to see such a great organization move so quickly in the wrong direction.

Pros

Flexible WFH and telework policy, holiday party, nice offices, and best of all, great colleagues!

Cons

Company does not respect work-life balance. There is a growing perception that (some) people are promoted via favoritism and this is something that is discussed across all levels of the organization - from HCA's to Research Scientists. Many individuals I worked with directly left in the few months prior to me leaving the company. Some of them did not have another job offer lined up.... Work is often delegated only to HCAs and SHCAs and the advice to "speak to your manager about your workload" is simply not true. Although I was lucky to work with some exceptional colleagues, the management here was abhorrent. They will try and string you along with vague promises of a promotion but there is no transparency about how this occurs and whose work gets recognized, which leads to rumors, and people feeling overlooked. They will work you to death if they can, with little regard for your mental or physical health -- and pressuring you to work holidays if the project requires it. The Great Place to Work Committee helps, but in the end, if structural issues are not fixed and your employees are often dissatisfied, I cannot recommend working here long-term.

NCQA Response

Glad to hear you appreciate NCQA’s flexible schedules and telework, social events, offices and people. I am happy to report that we are closing the year once again with an overall volunteer turnover rate below 10%, which is exceptionally good in comparison to benchmarks. We recognize that in the field of contracts and grants, such as in the Department you refer to, achieving worklife balance is challenging. This is a highly competitive and deadline driven environment and it will be better suited for people who do well in a fast moving and dynamic role, where you have to keep several balls in the air at the same time. In this context, we support employees through various flexibility policies such as telework, flexible schedules and PTO policies. All the best to you!
