Pros

* Some excellent managers and engineers placed in certain sectors of the company * No layoffs * Patient with development * Some opportunity for growth * Supportive in endeavors for furthering education * Heart of giving volunteering opportunities * Donation matching * for those who want, work life balance can be very nice. Easy to hide and "just collect a paycheck" * always work to do

Cons

* Toxic, out of touch upper management. Need to get out of the company * Advertise as supportive, and trusting, but are extremely hands-on in nearly every decision * Reluctant to backfill open jobs * Consistent re-definition of the company (this time it will be different! attitude) * Stagnant growth * Arbitrary fixation on stock price amounts, without clear pathway. * C-level seems to constantly change mind about hiring, interns, etc. Contradicts own initiatives when opportunities arise to plan for the future * Wants to have innovation while the projects seemingly make a profit magically from the beginning, blatant misunderstanding of project management cycles * Inability to follow a product roadmap due to higher up meddling with deliverables. Additionally, I felt nothing but loyalty to the company. Worked there for many years. Was recruited and offered a position by another company unexpectedly. Sentiment by high ranking official was to not let the door hit you on the way out. Very telling of their view of talent. * Misleads about having "best in class benefits". Of course there is very little in the way to fact check this when told this by mgmt. * If you desire success, the lack of backfill can drive you nuts since you will always have work you can take on before the next cycle ends.

Flexibility No More & Losing Hard Workers

Pros

Camaraderie between department is a pro, and the hybrid policy was a pro but that has quickly been stripped from workers. Company garden & cafeteria, sometimes.

Cons

Out of thin air, CEO decides for everything to go back to ‘pre Covid times’. Meaning no more hybrid work and no more remote work. This has been more of an incentive to lose very good talent and get folks to leave because of the ‘no lay off’ policy. Quite frankly, this rule is reducing morale drastically, and people are quitting which is probably what he wants to reduce costs. CEO does not value workers, and the “lean but not mean” culture is quickly disintegrating. Every decision is made from the CEO, which is just unreasonable. Upper management is like a child and the CEO is the parent and every one wants to be the ‘golden child’. It is a disgrace how some departments are not treated fairly and others get to pick and choose what policies they abide by. Pay is also below average and career progression is at a low.

Technical staff

Pros

Network support products and technical staff are generally very qualified.

Cons

Middle management does not regularly connect to products or technical staff resulting in a disconnect where middle management is not aware or doesn't care to resolve product problems. Upper management often bypasses middle management resulting in staff reporting to both.

Decent Workplace

Pros

- Non-discriminatory, non-toxic work place. - Decent work/life balance. - No-lay-off policy.

Cons

- Poor remote/hybrid policies. - Direction from upper management can be difficult to interpret and shift suddenly. - Very little turnover means there is not always room for upward growth. - Very few new-hires, especially in lower levels.

Dead end, few opportunities for growth

Pros

Great people in my department Very good work life balance Benefits are pretty good

Cons

No promotions, pay was decent when I started but hasn't kept up with inflation at all. New hires and even backfills are rare. Feels like a career dead end since the work is mostly on legacy tech. Upper management is mercurial, making us waste time on doomed projects. People/culture outside my department are often difficult to work with.

Pros

NETSCOUT can count on a very good and diversified workforce located around the world and working very well together as a team.

Cons

Management does not listen to employees. Upper management makes all strategic and technical product direction decisions without listening to their employees and customers. Upper management and a few people from the inner circle are making all decisions in this company. This is a large company managed like a mom and pop shop.

A good opportunity with some caveats

Pros

Enjoyed working with many of my peers. Good camaraderie. Large stable company. Upper management genuinely cares.

Cons

Organizations are very silo-ed. Little meaningful interaction with other teams other than through project managers. Some departments are very process oriented, many people lack curiosity about the technology and share knowledge unless they have to. Concerned that this company won't be able to innovate in the future.

Sales org is ever evolving...

Pros

Upper management really seems interested in the entire sales organization. From top to bottom, I feel valued (most of the time), and included is relevant discussions.

Cons

Some tools that are meant to enable us to do our jobs are being used inefficiently. Most of the issues come from residual integration problems, but others I believe are self created with users unable to fix them. Too many bottlenecks to get things done.

Good place to work - but don't ever expect to be promoted

Pros

The pay and benefits are above average for the industry. The corporate culture is mostly pretty good. My managers have always treated me and my co-workers fairly.

Cons

Unless you are one of the chosen few at the top, you will NEVER be promoted beyond the position you are hired for. They DO NOT promote from within. You have employees that have been in the same positions for 20 years or more being managed by people who've been with the company for only a year or 2, and upper management expects the seasoned veterans to train their managers.
