CMO is a bully

Pros

Soho is a nice area but that is it.

Cons

I'm a strong woman with great marketing experience but the CMO has created such a hostile work environment with constant bullying, harassment and setting impossible goals and expectations. The stress and anxiety he causes me and the entire department is horrible and I have only been here for a few weeks. Cannot wait to get out of this organization that employs this awful individual.

Poorly Run Company with Limited Workplace Diversity

Pros

Strong company mission and unique industry to be part of. Good benefits including health insurance (very affordable), wellness stipend, pto, etc.

Cons

Little to no workplace diversity. C-suite / senior management are all white and almost all men. Several departments (compliance, operations, sales, accounts, manufacturing, legal) are majority white and majority men. There has been no effort to update recruiting methods to ensure that candidates with diverse backgrounds are considered and included as part of the interview process. The few diverse candidates (people of color, women, LGBTQ, older employees, any combination of the previous) who are hired are not given adequate support or mentorship and as a result have slower progressions and limited upward trajectories (in terms of promotions, management opportunities, pay raises). These employees seem to receive more critical feedback and lower scores during reviews, may be (and often are) singled out, blamed, and labeled as low performers or difficult to work with. This has led to employees resigning in recent months or being let go or pushed out (responsibilities reduced or position eliminated). This dynamic has created a toxic workplace and tense atmosphere. Company is poorly run. Strategy seems to shift and change weekly. There is no planning, communication, or transparency for decisions, and then everything needs to be done as soon as possible. Initiatives and teams are created and set up and then stopped or disbanded after a few weeks. This creates a high stress environment and results in mistakes that could have been avoided.

Pros

Love the fast paced and exciting work environment while still being able to maintain a very health work-life balance. The work in the legal department is varied and sophisticated. The office as a whole is very much a meritocracy, star employees seem to advance very quickly and are rewarded while poor performers don't seem to do very well. So far, the company seems to growing very quickly and doing very well.

Cons

The company is in a heavily regulated and competitive industry and can benefit greatly or be hurt by regulatory/industry changes. While there is a lot of upside, there is also significant downside risk. Very much a startup in the sense of high risk/high reward.
