Great patients, toxic work environment

Pros

NJRetina is a clinic with great patients and great doctors that are willing to help others.

Cons

During my time there, I encountered a significant level of hostility among some staff members. There seemed to be an expectation that new employees would shoulder the majority of the workload, while more senior staff members took frequent breaks and engaged in gossip rather than contributing equally to the team's efforts. This imbalance in workload and behavior created a stressful and demoralizing atmosphere. Instead of fostering a collaborative and supportive environment, there was a sense of cliquishness and favoritism that made it challenging to work effectively as a team. The lack of professionalism and accountability in certain areas of the clinic's operations was disappointing and ultimately impacted the quality of patient care.

Pros

Friendly teamwork at offices for the most part, repetitive, direct patient care, frequent employee appreciation.

Cons

A lot of false promises given during the interviewing process from recruitment. Not a bad job as is, but training varies and there is no standard way every office runs. Traveling is understated and they can make you travel up to an hour away. Long shifts depending on the doctor you’re working with. Weekly schedules released on the Friday right before with 15 minutes at 6 am to call out.

Horrible and getting worse

Pros

Some management are top notch and want to see you succeed. Amazing doctors and quality of eye care.

Cons

Company has had a massive shift into a cut throat workplace after transitioning from NJ Retina. Limit budget, hiring freezes, too much work and not enough resources, no career growth opportunities, managers (some) who will replace you at a moment's notice, tossing work over to the other side, 60+ hour work weeks, and a culture working on fear. Some of the new hires have gotten let go without any negative performance remarks, and some long-time employees have also been let go with no care in the world. Top level wants to run the show, your ideas will not be considered. Work-life balance doesn't exist here.
