Pros
I honestly loved NSSA, it could of course get challenging at times but overall it was one of my favorite employers of all time. They respected you as an employee, they helped you grow professionally and personally to an extent you may not be aware of simply due to the people you are surrounded by and the positive support you recieve. Of course, I will not speak on students as that would not be ethical nor helpful, as students and individuals supported will vary year to year as well as location to location. I had opportunities to grow and recieve promotions in my somewhat short time spent with the company and had I remained there I believe I would have had further opportunities! Management could be strern but they always have your back as long as you are transparent with them, I know I probably frustrated them a few times but I always felt appreciated and appreciated them. When I was consulting at a nearby school for them, the fellow staff there were just as awesome and going back to the center felt like visiting college friends (that you respect deeply on a professional level). I know this sounded cheesy but Im a cheesy person and I did truly enjoy working there.
Cons
For me there werent many cons but Im that kind of person, I go with the flow, but if I were to mention potential ones to be fair- one may be that you are never sure what the next year may hold in terms of placement. That is not to say you will be out of work, that is to say you may have a new assignment come the end of the year- this could be for positive or negative merit based reasons, but in reality sometimes the individuals supported have ever-changing needs and you may be the best fit- despite it not "fitting best" for you. Another potential con may be that when you are consulted to a school, understand you are both an employee of NSSA AND the school and you have to operate on two levels to a certain extent, but again I feel this comes with the nature of the position.
