Zero loyalty, and unethical Management behavior.
Pros
Used to be a great team to work with. I worked with the professional services team since 2015 (contracting, full time hired 04/17).
Cons
When a life threatening illness slammed into my life in February of 2019 without warning, I continued to work during 2 major surgeries and a total of 14 hospitalizations over the next 5 months. In April 2019, I took a total of 2.5 days off for one of those surgeries- and proceeded to work more than 200 hours that month. While HR management was fully aware that I was hospitalized for 8 days in February and close to death from Sepsis, I was not provided any FMLA paperwork to fill out at any time. My multiple attempts to communicate with my managers were mostly ignored. From March to May 2019, I visited the hospital daily at 2pm for IV antibiotics to keep me alive. My manager, wasn't aware of these treatments at the time. She was completely unavailable and unresponsive to me. As my working hours were 6am to 9pm - I got my job done. Requests for assistance were met with complete silence, with the exception of criticism and recriminations if I dealt with client issues brought to me repeatedly. Trying to redirect the client issues to the correct departments (primarily accounting) left the clients issues ignored, so the clients returned to me for discussion. In between and during hospital stays, I continued to do my job, and received multiple public (company wide) kudos from my non-management team members into early May 2019. Imagine my shock and surprise to receive a formal 'Employee Corrective Action' in mid May of 2019 - listing, among other items - Violations of Nxturns PTO and FMLA policy. The only explanation I received upon asking for clarification was to review the policy itself-(Again by HR Manager) which states FMLA must be arranged 90 days in advance. My first surgery in 2019 was in February, so my ongoing health battle was easily confirmed, yet I was never provided FMLA paperwork to fill out by HR. With this formal write up, I felt I was forced to choose between medical treatment to save my life or remaining employed. I resigned on May 31st, 2019, as staying alive superseded employment. I was immediately cut off from entering my time for my final 2 weeks within moments of submitting my resignation. Per company policy, time was to be entered the first 2 days following the end of the pay period. I had attended multiple team meetings, had meetings with my direct manager, responded to multiple support cases and calls with client needing support needs during the second half of May - Nxturn's own Netsuite system shows this. Yet, I received no final paycheck. The explanation given was that I did not log any time, leaving out the simple fact that I was not ALLOWED to log any time. Ironically, Nxturn’s Support Telephone continued to be forwarded to my office phone until I sent management an email asking that the forwarding be removed after yet another hospitalization in June, and returning home to find Nxturn client support voicemails. Withholding earned pay from an employee dealing with a life threatening illness left me feeling as though I was being punished for having osteomyelitis in my femur. Punished for being sick. This is the reality of Nxturn, from a former employee holding a long term position. This treatment of internal employees is a clear indicator of The Nxturn philosophy. At the time I resigned in May of 2019, they offered zero health insurance benefits. Again- being a company of under 50 people, they aren't required to provide health insurance benefits, and are exempt from Federal FMLA laws.
