Pros

Some talented and hardworking colleagues at the faculty/postdoc/grad student level who try their best despite leadership.

Cons

The workplace culture is deeply troubling and driven by fear rather than respect. There is a persistent pattern of poor leadership behavior that includes dismissiveness, lack of accountability, and a disregard for employee well-being. Concerns around fairness and inclusion are not taken seriously, and employees who raise issues often feel sidelined or discouraged from speaking up. There is also a strong sense that leadership priorities are misaligned—decisions appear to be driven more by optics (to the board) and maintaining external relationships than by supporting staff or building a healthy work environment. This creates a culture where people feel undervalued, unheard, and easily replaceable. Opportunities for growth and recognition are inconsistent, and there is little transparency in how decisions are made. Morale suffers as a result, and turnover reflects that reality. Harassment, retaliation, discrimination, and closed-door deals are the keywords to describe this place. Throwing money at people and problems will only silence people so long.
