Pros

some super smart, talented, fun and kind people to work with (most of whom have since quit or been laid off) Solid compensation

Cons

After working here for about 7 months i had to basically start asking trusted people....what does this product do and why does anyone actually need it? Alot of people cant even answer that question OR - they told me straight up : "they dont" -2 rounds of lay offs, stagnant business outlook, zero deliveries of value for over a year and key people departures have morale 6 feet under right now. -CEO is a narcissistic ego maniac...everyone has to walk on egg shells around the guy. -Never seen an executive be LESS empowering to the people he hired to do jobs. CEO comes from an agency background and clearly has no idea how to REALLY build a product. -CEO would rather build things he thinks is a cool idea he heard from someone at a conference rather than solve problems and actual needs of customers based on research and evidence. -Nacelle has not delivered a SINGLE THING in over a year....and with the new platform issues and migrations....we will not deliver anything new through the end of the year (making it 2 years) -Nacelle will be another example of this crazy "VC era" bubble that has now popped. Companies that just take the funding money and irresponsibly spend to scale my any means necessary all while not adjusting strategy or business model. That era is over. I dont think Nacelle will be around much longer.

Nacelle Response

Thank you for your feedback. We want to emphasize this is not the culture we have built or stand for. As a current employee, we strongly advise you to raise concerns with your manager and/or the People team so we can work hard on ensuring this is not the case for any employees in the future. Regarding your concern about the product, we have recently hired a Chief Technology Officer to lead efforts to continue developing and improving our product roadmap. They have immense eCommerce knowledge from the customer point of view and a history of building strong product teams. We are tapping into a network of customers, providing feedback, and researching to solve the challenges that eCommerce merchants face. The reduction in force was in response to the changes in the capital markets and to support the business's long-term success. This was a very challenging decision that we did not take lightly, and we did our best to support those affected during the transition. From the beginning of Nacelle, we were intentional about setting cultural values that reflect the kind of company we want to build, from honesty & integrity to ownership. Our People team welcomes the opportunity to connect directly over a call to discuss your feedback and concerns in greater detail.

Pros

- Talented and driven colleagues: I had the opportunity to work with some incredibly talented and hardworking engineers, who were passionate about what they were building. - Competitive compensation and benefits: The company offered a competitive package, including fair salaries and benefits that made it an attractive place to work.

Cons

- CEO's priorities and toxic culture: The CEO seemed more interested in being seen as the smartest person in the room than actually fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. He actively engaged in back-channeling and undermined leadership, preventing them from performing their jobs effectively. This created a toxic culture that negatively impacted the company and hindered the growth of the team. - Inconsistent vision: The company suffered from a lack of consistent vision and direction, with the CEO often jumping from one buzzword to another without any clear plan or roadmap. - Ignoring customer needs: Instead of prioritizing customers and their requirements, the company often encouraged engineers to ignore real problems faced by clients, which was a major red flag for me. - Lack of product direction: Full teams of engineers were often left unchecked for months, working in isolation without any guidance or coordination. This resulted in a chaotic and unproductive work environment that made it challenging to build a cohesive and successful product.

Pros

- Compensation is pretty good - Fully remote - Some really talented people on staff

Cons

-Struggling to sell the product and retain customers - haven't met sales goals in the last several quarters - Conducted multiple rounds of layoffs and morale is down - Inequality in pay/ promotion opportunities/ recognition depending on who the CEO plays favorites with - There is often a lot of misalignment between the CEO and other leaders - Culture lacking in transparency and respect - Many engineers don't believe in the product - Lacking job stability. I'm not sure how much longer Nacelle will be around. There is a low probability of this company/ product surviving
