This company will give you severe burnout!

Pros

Let's dive into the so-called "pros" of working at Napo Pet Insurance. Sure, your colleagues might be pleasant enough to your face, but don't be fooled. Behind closed doors, they're gossiping about you faster than you can say "office politics". And don't even think about speaking up to your managers - the company thrives on sheep-like behaviour. If you dare to voice your concerns, kiss goodbye to that promised promotion or pay rise. It's a toxic cycle of compliance, where speaking your mind is the fastest way to derail your career aspirations.

Cons

Working at Napo Pet Insurance? Let me paint a grim picture for you. First off, the managers? Total amateurs. Their only skill? Gaslighting their staff into thinking everything's fine. Burnout? It's practically the company culture. They'll work you to the bone, with promises of promotions or pay rises that never materialise. And when performance reviews roll around, they'll find the tiniest excuse to deny you what you deserve. The office? It's like high school all over again, with cliques and mild bullying rampant. You'll dread coming in every day, but the pay? Just enough to keep you trapped. Trust me, you'll need therapy just to survive working here long-term.

Pros

Some like-minded, passionate and committed coworkers who genuinely care about the mission. Pay is decent, but you’re effectively stuck with very minor increments over time and burning out. Flexibility is currently good, although it often feels like it could be revoked at any moment.

Cons

The hours are brutal and there is an expectation to overwork yourself. An inner circle and favoritism seem quite common. Those closer to leadership tend to get the better opportunities to grow, attend awards or events, receive exceptions, or see meaningful pay rises. Before feedback or review sessions there can be pressure to “play nice” by managers, which renders all feedback channels pointless. No such thing as psychological safety. Constant Slack updates. Frankly, many of them feel unnecessary or unprofessional. It would help if people were trusted to just do their jobs instead of the constant management hype or trying to create a vibe. Some departments are a complete mess structurally. Coordination and clarity are lacking. There’s little sense of long-term stability. Don’t fall for the glossy external image without asking deeper questions. It's a failing business sadly.

Pros

Other colleagues were lovely, and business provided flexible wfh options.

Cons

I was made redundant after completing maternity leave. Situation should have been dealt with better but ultimately, no bad feelings. In a much better and happier position since leaving.
