Pros

The position is work from home which is very appealing

Cons

I was hired for a recruiting position at the Oldham Agency/National Income Life. On my first day/meeting after being hired I went into a meeting with my immediate supervisor and his superior. He explained the fine details of the job and gave a short training on a few key points for success. After that he asked me to "Shut the door". When I did as asked he proceeded to tell me that while recruiting there were some "historic" facts that should be observed. He stated, "Historically, young black men and women, do not do well at this job." and then later went on to say "Single Moms do not do well at this job…really, single parents in general." He even said that I might want to make a note on the potential hire sheet if some one is a single mom, just so management can see the red flag. The final straw was when he turned to his supervisor and asked her "Am I forgetting any other groups?" an she responded by saying "The gays". He said "Oh thats right, gay men and women also do not do well at this job." I finished the meeting and walked out in a very professional manner but my morals and standards got the better of me as I thought more about what had just happened. I will not work for a company who allows there employees to pass on discriminations such as these to any of it employees. I understand that there may be certain facts and data that show why particular demographic groups may excel at this job, but as a professional, respectable, and considerate human being I will never use guidelines such as these to succeed in my employment.
