Pros

- opportunity to contribute to cool products - sometimes cool summer parties - nice discounts on gear (not only NI) - nice free drinks, good coffee

Cons

- dirty talks behind your back happen frequently - broken waterfall, strong command and execute approach - top managers fight between them and enjoy being feared by subordinates. - doesn't hesitate to lay off people to look good on paper, happened already a couple of times

Passionate people in a technocracy

Pros

Awesome colleagues that are deeply passionate about music and technology. It feels like a big family of likeminded people. Great working place (coffee, etc.). There used to be great parties in the past. Even though there are many problems recently it's at least still a great place to start a career and learn a broad spectrum of things but then move on. It's possible to change and move things if you want but you need a lot of resilience.

Cons

Total lack of empathy in management layers. There are a few that care but the majority are politicians that just want to keep their position. Some hard decisions are right but the way they are executed is extremely unprofessional. Many decisions are pure random. One day like this next day the other way around. There has been no innovation for many years. Many people have great ideas. But there is no interest in them. Management does not understand that technical depts needs to be paid off one day. They just make more and more of it. Feature creep over good quality. There seems to be some change but let's see if it really happens. There were many false promises in the past.

98% Marketing, 2% Tech

Pros

- modern offices / open space - dominating role in its market segment - lots of talented people with various backgrounds - free cereals and coffee for everyone

Cons

- no clear idea on how to develop employees (i.e. no career possibilities) at least in tech - people managers are friendly but have no say - most executives / directors have been with the company way too long and simply lack skills for their positions (especially in the engineering department) - below average pay. The „brand identity“ and hippness factor seem to guarantee a steady stream of people willing to work below market value - engineering gets no recognition; the marketing department gains all the applause. Example: the CEO might control the exact design of product packaging, while engineers need to beg for resources to keep the actual products alive - some products are drowning in ultra-deep tech debt

A disappointing experience I'm glad I had

Pros

Modern offices with some nice perks like free beer on Fridays and good coffee, etc. A lot of the people I worked with on a daily basis were very friendly and it's great to be surrounded by people who really love music.

Cons

The whole time I was working there, the teams I worked with didn't release anything innovative or particularly exciting. This is because upper management were micro managing our backlog and forcing us to build whatever feature they had dreamt up that morning, a feature that had no connection what so ever to anything our users were asking for. By being completely out of touch with the entire actual user base, they managed to squander the largest amount of capital that had ever been invested into the music tech industry, and have absolutely nothing to show for it.

Chaos

Pros

Free coffee, office dogs, great coworkers

Cons

The exec team doesn’t seem to trust anyone but themselves. They hire bright people and try to set up the right environment but instead of listening to customer feedback as well as employee feedback, they decide that their own instincts are correct and dictate strategy. And when that strategy doesn’t work out, there’s chaos and mass layoffs.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We understand that due to the strategic decisions taken in LA recently, there have been some ups and downs. We agree that we’ve hired great talent and are glad that you’ve also enjoyed the investment into our space and employee experience. We are committed to leadership development and ensuring that both our customers and especially our employees feel heard.

Pros

- Free beverages and coffee - Near the Spree river side - Good work/life balance - Nice colleagues (although they are getting less and less)

Cons

- The worst management I've ever experienced. - Many layoffs. Not stable environment to work. One day you're told that are the best in what you do (which of course, they don't mean) and the next day you're fired. It's random without pattern. - The layoffs are quite expected as the management is sinking the boat, but the way they do them is ugly and nasty. - Depending on the team you're working you may get a lot of micromanagement. - Most of the people that were highly skilled already gone. - Responsibilities are blur. You don't really know what others do. - Cross-team collaboration is very difficult and it takes a lot of time and effort. That's also a management issue not between the colleagues. - There is no stability and plan. Everything changes dramatically every few months. - Unproductive. Too many lost working hours in useless meetings. - There is no transparency. - Management is invisible. They only show up to parties or to announce the new fancy strategies, which will be changed again in a couple of months. Also, they are not open to any suggestions and you get just ignored. - The whole environment is completely unprofessional. Very amateur environment. - Skills don't matter. As a matter of fact, you'll soon find out that it's worse when you have them. - You must do what you've told. There's no room for personal expertise and experience. - There are so many things wrong in there that the list is endless. But all starts from the top and there doesn't seem anything that will change this.

Pros

Free coffee and drinks, nice surroundings

Cons

Organisational structure changes once a year or with every personel change in upper management. Customer‘s or employee‘s opinion isn‘t of any importance. Payment is very low.
