This is the hardest job I have ever had, but I have grown more as a professional in the past two years of my employment at Nautilus than in any job I have had in my career. Our commitment to building sustainable shipping technology and going up against one of the world's oldest and dirtiest industries takes grit, teamwork, and creativity, all things my colleagues and managers exemplify. Work here if you want to make an impact, take on a challenge, and grow as a professional.

Cons

We are building a global startup, which can mean working in multiple time zones. The global travel isn't bad, but the late-night and early calls can be.

Having worked at a few different startups in the past, working at Nautilus Labs has definitely been my favorite experience. The management actually cares about employee well being and has been very receptive to feedback during the remote work culture that's been necessary during the pandemic. The various teams are focused and driven, while being empathetic to each other. The product is interesting and everyone is committed to the environmental impact it can have on the maritime industry. Many folks in the company come from outside the maritime industry, and there are continuous internal opportunities available to level up in industry knowledge.

Cons

With small teams and ever increasing workloads, work-life balance can sometimes be difficult to achieve. Individual role growth is often unclear since it's dependent on how the startup grows and changes over time.

- Product is good, and getting better quickly - Massive business opportunity - Team is really, really talented and works well together - Hands off management. Results matter, but there's no micromanagement

It's a young company, so there's less structure than I've seen in other places
