Pros

A company full of welcoming and warm people. Truly some of the best in the industry and I’ve never known a company have a stronger tone and message that they stick to with all their heart

Cons

I only had a few short weeks at NeoMam. After they decided to part ways, I was initially upset, but I now realise that it was right for both of us and just goes to show how sticking to your brand code or culture code is beneficial to everyone. Wish everyone there the best of luck

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience as part of our team. It means a lot to read that you felt our team was welcoming and warm :) Parting ways with a new hire is always a very difficult situation to navigate, but as you say, it's a decision we make confident that it will be the best for everyone involved in the long run. We will continue to discuss this with candidates during the hiring process, and we will be clearer about the next steps once the decision has been made so everyone knows what to expect. We wish you all the luck in the world in what's next. We are honoured to have been part of your journey.

Pros

I love working at NeoMam due to the fact that it has has a small in-house team that are focused on creating the best work- there's always discussions and debates going on about how we can do something better, or try something new. You never feel like you can't bring an idea to the table. The whole team is involved in the growth of the company. We have hours dedicated to understanding where the business is going, and we all brainstorm ways on how we can help get there. We all have development goals that we work on every quarter, and weekly meetings to discuss things that are getting in our way. I love the fact that I have a clear area of responsibility, and I get to create my own path, whether it's something I want to learn, implement a new way of doing things or test a new content type, I have the freedom to 'give it a go'. I work with a great team that have been through a tight recruitment process, so everyone seems to really understand the business and are a good fit with the rest of the team, as well as been talented in their expert areas. NeoMam has some awesome clients who we work with over a longer period of time, so you really get to know them, which I really like. It's very much a partnership way of working rather than just doing what is asked. It feels like there's a high level of mutual respect between us and our clients.

Cons

It can be hard work, particularly as everyone is very much accountable for their own areas in the business. If you don't do the work, then no one else will, and it becomes very apparent. It's a good place for those who want it, but not good for those who are happy to coast. As a small team, if someone is having a bad day, it can effect the environment of the office. We do have a set of core values to live by, which really helps us work well with each other in the best way. We work closely with expert consultants and freelancers to get the best work done. In some ways this is really great, but it can also be tough managing workload if they are not always available.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. We really appreciate your open mindedness around working on the business so thanks for sharing your ideas on how to grow our company further. We know this is not something that everyone would enjoy doing so it's great to have you on board as it is a very important part of NeoMam and our open book approach to running a business. Being a small team certainly comes with its challenges; as you mentioned one person's bad mood can spread quickly around the office. Since the time you left your review, we've moved to a fully flexible working structure where we all work remotely most of the time so I hope that helped in that sense. That being said, our value of just saying it is there to clean the air and get it out whenever one of us is not feeling quite right to avoid these uncomfortable feelings from brewing further and affecting the entire team. Hiring the right team has been our focus during 2017 so fingers crossed that will show as you get to work with new members of the NeoMam team!

Pros

Location was good. I was fortunate enough to meet some great people working here (all of whom have now left)

Cons

This is a destructive environment that has been detrimental to colleagues and my own career. The culture is horrendous, the managers (when present - which was rare) used bullying tactics to get work done. There were huge periods of time where no work was allocated, yet we were made to sit in the office and not allowed to do further reading, studying, etc. When work was given impossible deadlines were set. The quality of work produced suffered because of this. There are unethical practices which, if learned by graduates and employees, will be detrimental to their attitudes and expectations in further roles.

I am sorry you didn't enjoy your time at NeoMam which based on your profile I think ended in 2015. As someone who worked during this period, I can agree that it was certainly a hard time and stressful for everyone. Since then we have made some changes. Now we use the EOS system ( see point 5 - http://neomam.com/blog/difficult-agency-decisions/) which means everyone in the team has ownership over one number that supports the agency as a whole. Rather than rely on managers to allocate work, each team member is looking forward to how they can make improvements and improve their number so the agency as a whole can grow. The downside to this is there is always something to be done, and if new potential employees are reading this, then we don't get time to brush up on our Spanish or read the latest Harry Potter during worktime. On the plus side, employees become masters at valuable career skills such as time management, delegation, outsourcing and working efficiently in a team. My goal is that every employee when they leave NeoMam has the real world business skills to set up their own business one day.
