Exploitation of Salaried Employees

Pros

In all fairness, Managing Attorneys are not bad people. Unfortunately, they look the other way while a member of senior management engages in practices that abuse and exploit employees.

Cons

Salaried Employees are exploited. It is not uncommon for a salaried employee to work over 40 hours in a week (by Wednesday or Thursday), take off work early on a Friday or take Friday off (approved by Senior Management) and then be docked that "time off" from their PTO banks. What is frustrating about this practice is that it does not appear to be condoned by the the managing partners as those who have stood up for themselves and complained have had their PTO credited back to them. The problem is that the member of senior management who administers PTO continues to take away accrued PTO without notice. Pay stubs do not track PTO balances or activity so unless you ASK what your PTO balance is, you have no way of knowing if you are being robbed of your benefits.

Cheap company with bad management

Pros

there are none at all

Cons

This company paid very poorly with absolutely no room for advancement. Your workload would regularly increase due to high turnover but you were never compensated enough. Management was terrible and didn’t get along. Upper management didn’t bother talking to anyone. They nickel and dime you. No bonuses or raises. Didn’t get paid for holidays for the first 6 months and if you took any time off during that 6 month period, it extended the time before you received any paid time off. HR was a nightmare. Time off was kept on a spreadsheet that was hopefully updated accurately. Treated employees terribly and like I said, turnover was incredibly high.

The Mos Eisley of Law Firms

Pros

They will be polite to you when they interview you.

Cons

An employee was assaulted in the office. This event happened in front of several eye witnesses and was recorded by the security cameras. The assault victim filed a complaint and was never heard from or seen at work again. The attacker is still there. To quote Obi-Wan Kenobi: "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious."
