Pros

- Cool if you like hockey - Telling people who don't know about hockey that you work for a "professional" sports team - Sometimes people buy tickets from you - This one time I saw Rick DiPietro giving out hot dog coupons - They give you bagels

Cons

Do you like working 70-90 hours a week for 25k a year? Who doesn't! How about no work-life balance, 100+ phone calls per day to people who would rather bathe in acid than talk to you, and management who expects you to sell like the Islanders are a Stanley Cup-caliber team? Never in my life could I have imagined a more poorly run organization top to bottom. Senior management plays favorites, the reps undercut each other, everything is shady. Managers are relatively clueless and their expectations are extremely unrealistic. Lack of motivation was the final nail in my coffin- there's nothing better than working 13 straight days then being told you have to work extra hours while management comes in late and leaves early. Oh and I forgot to mention all the ridiculous extra events you are forced to work for no pay (that's right- you will work 60+ hours every week during the season). I cannot tell you how many "season ticket holder events" I had to work with zero opportunity to make any sales. Not to mention you are selling tickets for one of the biggest embarrassments in professional sports. No one in their right mind wants to hear from you let alone spend money on your tickets. Kinda hard to sell thousands of dollars worth of ticket packages when you can go on StubHub and get center ice tickets for $10 on any given night. PS Pay is an absolute joke for the amount of work you put in. Commission plans only reward the top reps who sell their souls to brokers who buy thousands of tickets even though that is "frowned upon" by management. PPS- Prepare to be in an absolutely MISERABLE work environment. Everyone is constantly frustrated and bored out of their minds, and no serious work ever gets done. Constant meetings reinforce this bad behavior as management's expectations are so ridiculous all you can do is laugh and play Candy Crush and check your Fantasy Football lineups.

Pros

Working in sports for a team opening a new arena offered good compensation opportunity. Upper upper management got it, for the most part.

Cons

Very little respect given to tenured reps in terms of autonomy. Regardless of having success or not, consistent breathing down the necks of reps and micromanaging without true leadership. Lack of care for career development with a ton of turnover.
