Pros

The pay is bad but it's even worse at some similar schools, so as these ESL schools go, NYLC is OK.

Cons

It's run like the owner's private pet project. It's completely disorganized and unprofessional in every possible way. There are no benefits and every attempt is made to avoid giving teachers enough hours to acquire benefits. There is absolutely no support given to the teachers. This is absolutely the most horrible place I have ever worked in my life and if the economy weren't so bad and jobs so hard to find, I would never work here.

Pros

Some of the people that you work with. But not the managers they are mostly woman and it is a lot of jealousy; even though your job is totally different.

Cons

No human Resource department in place everything is with the owner Barbara and she is not a person that you can not bring to her any issues. The pay is lower than the standard for the industry and you need to do everything even though you are hired to take care of the students and if the cleaning no show you must do the cleaning, otherwise the Queen B will give you a hard time for the day.

Administration is terrible

Pros

Not many, Coworkers are nice. Unfortunately, meager chances of growth.

Cons

Outdated school that needs a face lift and modern education facilities. Extremely tight on budget. Low ball in salary, so they're loosing valuable faculty. The Owners yell and scream and cuss at or around their employees from the top of the management chain on down. It seems that they try not to at times but then lose sight the professional entity and fall back into the poor behavior.

The writer? agent? is incorrect about people cursing. Of course no one raises their voice here. The salary is on par with other language schools. I wholeheartedly suggest that you open your own business. How dare you tell us to shut down. We provide a tremendous service the community.
