I am sorry that your experience at Newport Group seems to have deteriorated. The annual skip level program is an opportunity I would encourage you to use to discuss some of your concerns such as career growth. Your Human Resources team is always available to listen to concerns regarding the working environment and will investigate and take action if bad management practices are identified. I hope that we can address your concerns so that you are happy to stay onboard for another 8 years.

Pros

The pto policy was the only reasonable part.

Cons

Where to start; management was horrible with micromanaging, favoritism, and just plan ineptitude. They underpay and overwork the employees, especially the expempt/salaried employees. The turnover is horrible because management is unable to properly manage client expectations and promise the world even though the system can’t function to accommodate, which means a lot of outside of the system tracking. Work/life balance is horrible and they refuse to allow regularly scheduled remote shifts (which would help provide work/life). No clear career path/opportunities. There is a reason why turnover is so high. Stay away!

I am sorry that you were not happy at Newport Group and hope that you have now found a role that suits you better. No company is a one size fits all. In the past few years, as we have integrated the businesses we have acquired, we have made a considerable investment in aligning our service streams and operating platforms and in managing these significant changes sensitively with our clients and people. Turnover within our company is no higher than that within other financial service organizations and we track this carefully and take action to address areas of concern. We have a number of roles and people that successfully work flexibly and internal promotion remains the key source for filling our opportunities. The need to protect the security of sensitive client data means, however, that not all roles are able to operate remotely.
