Pros

Occasionally you get an early finish or a bottle of wine. Other than that the company is pretty poor.

Cons

The whole place is a con. Staff are horrid people as are management, made to feel stupid constantly, always threatened with your job. The rules change depending on who you are to the manager.

Pros

No excessive hours, occasional early finish, 25 days holiday, Ssp, used to be able to earn decent bonus, but they don’t like that, so they automatically put targets up, even though they are managing rapid decline.

Cons

Poor management, invisible MD, lack of leadership, middle management desperate for results without knowhow, digital chaos managers clueless, they have less knowledge than the salespeople. Passive and aggressive bullying, blatant racism with no obvious punishment. Any other industry would not sit on the fence. Half cocked ideas, poor products dredged up from 15 years ago to go alongside the ‘digital revolution’. Jobsworth managers probably started their careers as decent human beings or on reception, but something about newsquest ne that changes them into odious individuals and liars that you have to make money for. Not any more. Good riddance!

Pros

There are none, this was literally the worst job I ever had

Cons

The manager at the time was clinically unstable and would sing in the style of opera. I have no clue why she did it, maybe it was to disguise how bad at her job she was. She was a decent human being, in a plain, jolly hockey sticks kind of a way, but she was insane, truly terrible at understanding people or motivating a team. One of the other two management must have got the position purely because he was too feeble to have ever got another job elsewhere so simply stayed long enough to be promoted. I am sure he was an okay person and is kind to animals but being in the masons was the most dynamic thing about him. I became so used to seeing people crying I became desensitised to it. People were so miserable there that they would walk out with no job to go to. I was terrified that I would make six months and pass my probation period because it would mean that I would have to give a months notice so I took the first job offered to me. I kid you not. Christmas decorations went up in September and there was a Coldplay and slippers day. I think they did this stuff to try and trick you into not slicing your wrists with sharp objects from the kitchen. I have heard they have removed the canteen now, probably to stop suicide by butter knife.
