No room for advancement & the pay rate is stagnant without the ability to make more or move up within company. There is obvious favoritism and nepotism with management hiring family members that receive special treatment. It creates a toxic environment that no one feels comfortable in. Gossip between management and employees; management sharing personal information about current/former employees. From what I have witnessed, you need to document everything you see or hear. Micro-managing; Some of the "rules" are more for power/control. If you are use to a company that treats you like an adult, you will be very disappointed to come to a company that treats you like a child. Management often expresses distrust of employees without reason. Annual reviews are inconsistently done if at all. You can have an amazing review, but your pay and the way you are treated, will not reflect the same. The programs used within the company do not transfer over to other companies. If you are looking to advance in this industry, the only construction program used is not known to the industry and can hinder growth. The job is itself is quite simple to learn, but as you can see, the toxic "family" environment outweighs the worth of that. If you really need in, put in your year and leave like everyone else. There is a high turn over for a reason.
