Pros

Good work/life balance: many employees come to work early and leave early. Family friendly environment.

Cons

Even though this is a software company, the software development side has been silo'ed off from the business side, and the tech stack is pretty outdated. Career progression opportunities for Software Developers are quite limited outside of the development silo. While the average age of software developers is low (they hire a lot of juniors), the average age on the management side is hovering close to 40, so there is a bit of a cultural divide at the company. Most employees go home as soon as the clock hits 5 which can be great for older folk with families but there's not much company culture to speak of here.

Pros

They pay you pretty decently for being a graduate but it's soul crushing work. Very boring

Cons

Super old tech stack that gives you not transferrable skills and they never give you a raise after the first one after your probation is up

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. Some of our teams are currently in the process of migrating our tech stack and whilst we appreciate that some teams are required to work with the existing tech stack, we expect every team will have the opportunity to work with modern frameworks and languages. Ongoing career development is important and we want every team member to have a clear career development plan that is discussed regularly with their manager in their ongoing 1-1s and refreshed formally at least every 6 months as part of our biannual performance and development reviews. If you feel this isn’t happening right now for you in your role or you don’t know how to raise this with your manager, please set up time to chat with a member of the HR team or broader People team in confidence to help progress. We also conduct ongoing market benchmarking reviews as well as merit reviews at least biannually for every role, and where appropriate, additionally out of cycle as the market moves. We appreciate there has been alot of movement in the market of late, especially for technical roles in light of Covid and other challenges. If you have any questions about your salary, do discuss with your department or divisional head as we have a total rewards philosophy that aims to be competitive and can talk through the factors we consider to give you confidence in the underlying process. Alternatively, please don’t hesitate to set up time to speak with a member of our People team also, we’re here to help should you have any questions, especially if there’s anything you’d like to discuss in confidence before raising with your immediate manager.
