Poor place to work

Pros

Good medical benefits. Work can be interesting.

Cons

No work life balance. You're required to work 8-hours a day (i.e. it's not 40 hours a week, it's 8 hours a day. If you can't work 8 hours today, you need to take a block of 4 hours of vacation. Doesn't matter if you worked 12 hours the day before). Management expects you to work till midnight and show up at 9am the next morning for core hours. Company has VERY low morale.

Pros

Engineering policies and procedures are top-notch. Opportunities to work with some pretty cool technologies and hardware. Some great learning opportunities if you are young and very naive. Very good Indian Buffet nearby.

Cons

Very weird environment, very strict hours, and excessive over-time. You will be written up if you arrive to work after 9 am and it is frowned upon if you leave before 5:30 pm. It is not unusual to see the CEO walking the parking lot and counting cars. It is also frowned upon to schedule doctors, dentists, or other appointments during work hours. This is not he place to work if you have a family. Expect to work very long hours. You will often be asked to stay late (2 or 3 am) and to come in on Saturdays and Sundays. If you work late, you are still expected to arrive before 9 am the following day. Refusing to work extra hours will result in termination. Average work hours are 60-70 hours per week, but still only paid for 40 (there is no overtime pay). Do not expect vacation requests to be approved. Salaries are sub-par.

Pros

Many of the entry level workers are great people. That's where it stops. It is unfortunate that it's this hard to find 20 positive words.

Cons

HR is a complete disaster. The company will pay for kennel fees and has rented a very expensive house so the HR director's canine can travel the 120 minutes from HQ while at the same time fail to reimburse hourly employees mileage to travel the same trip. Pay is a complete joke unless The same director likes you. You might get a raise but it will be at most 3% (unless said director likes you). They have laid off 30+ employees two weeks after a two week shutdown to avoid layoffs and the next day senior management shows up in a new suburban (Christmas bonus). Overall, I've seen better work ethic and competency out of upper management working fast food.
