Pros

Yeah, I don't have any of those

Cons

I have frequent nightmares about the atrocities this organization has imposed on my life. After being belittled, taken for granted and overworked, I would never wish this position on even the worst of enemies. No one cares. No one accepts responsibility for the ill-conceived mistakes that are constantly made on a daily basis. It would be a blessibg if any one of these people cared about anyone else but themselves, as their employees have one common passionnof bettering our environment and, ultimately, our planet. Do not recommend, work McDonalds instead.

Pros

There are a few genuine and competent people still left at this organization. Opportunities for PTO/flex time if your supervisor approves.

Cons

Subservience is favored over hard work and even the slightest critique is met with criticism. The feedback loop is severely broken due to a top-heavy management structure. Executive Director and her team work in a silo and are resistant to change underlying issues that lead to high staff turnover. When executives get any real work done, praise is solicited and expected. Organizational hiring practices are incestuous and new hires quickly realize that most everyone with decision-making authority is related in some way. Although finding a job at an internationally recognized nonprofit — especially in Bellingham’s market — may seem like a good fit, save your energy and look elsewhere. Good people burn out here and it won’t take you long to learn why.

Pros

Work is exciting and meaningful, it feels great to work towards a cause that's purpose is to better our planet.

Cons

Management does not value employees. Wages are pathetically low, even for a nonprofit. Core values are frequently discussed but never implemented. Turnover is incredibly high- organization has lost 15 employees out of 24 in last 12 months. No 401K.
