There can be some toxic positivity which can clash with the culture they strive for, department leadership wasn't always the best people more of a who you know and where you came from take on things, growing pains from quick expansion put people in roles who weren't ready, it's a sales role that comes with no commissions due to the industry of higher ed (although they have no control over this law they could increase the barrier of entry and have a higher starting pay to offset no commissions)
