Pros

-Majority of the time you work with some amazing professional staff. -Work load is reasonably paced, can be feast or famine. -One of the better hosptial networks to work for.

Cons

-Significant changes in leadership rocked the boat hard enough to create waves of resignation across all departments. - Since the pandemic, management tends to lean heavier on increasing revenue than providing quality care and listening to their employers. -Extremely low pay allocated for certain clinical staff when compared to national average, does not adjust pay based on inflation. -Decreased continuing education funding replaced by corporate education through online platforms. Any in-person CE course needs approval by management to determine “if it fits the clinic needs.” - Questionable support for individual growth in the career.

Pros

NOTHING! Absolutely nothing!!! I've been sitting here and thinking because I needs 20 word minimum but I honestly have nothing. Please just go to cons, because that's all this company is!

Cons

I have no idea where to start!! 1. There is no such thing as sick days, when call in sick, you get written up. 2. They make you work 9 1/2 hours a days, starting this month (2/2015) you only get 45 minutes lunch and only 20 minute break. They will tell you when you can take your break. Oh and if you get thirsty, you cant get up to go get water because your on the clock. Its just beyond ridiculous. 3. Micromanagement beyond the regular. These managers breath down your neck so hard that you actually feel the hot breath touching your back. 4. They can careless about their employees, for example: There is a huge empty parking lot in front of the building. In that area, its only Northshore employees but they still don't want you to park there. If you do, they will tow you... Seriously? NO ONE ELSE PARKS THERE, why can't your employees park in the front during the winter? 5. You can almost never request a day off, the managers there (the ones that think thy are doing big things) will most likely deny it. They are all about "policies" that don't even exist. 6. When you start your day with this ridiculous phone system they have going, you log in and BOOM - automatically you are live and the caller is in your ear, there is no such thing as answering the call, it just pops up and your live even if your not ready yet. Once your done with the call, status bar blinks for 30 seconds. When that 30 seconds is over, your live on the next call. If your not, you'll be in trouble sitting at the annoying managers desks because you went over "Wrap" time. 7. My list can go to maybe the #50. But i'm seriously hurting my self just thinking about Northshore Patient Access center. Its beyond ridiculous in there. I HAVE NEVER HAD A JOB THIS BAD! Any employee there will tell you the same, people are consistently leaving the company because they are just fed but with the BS. Please do yourself's a favor and skip NORTHSHORE UNIVERSITY HEALTH SYSTEMS PATIENT ACCESS CENTER!

Pros

The salary is above average. Benefits are good. Free parking, and free shuttle bus to Metra. If you're a mediocre employee, you will love working at NorthShore, especially in the I.T. department. If you excel, you'll hate it. You will never be challenged, and your skills will never grow. You'll soon get bored and quit.

Cons

Management embarked on an "employee engagement" program about two years ago. I have yet to see even one tangible outcome from it. They talk about it constantly ("we're working hard to gather your feedback"..."we're formulating a strategy"...), but it's all just talk. They also launched a "customer loyalty" initiative which has driven away most of the talent. Employee reviews are no longer based on competency, productivity, knowledge, and skill. They're based on "service values". What are service values? In the I.T. department, it boils down to this: smile, placate the user, and then call the software vendor. Don't bother knowing anything about your own product because management won't trust your judgment anyway. Managers greatly frown upon anyone who makes waves. I know one employee who got put on a "performance improvement plan" because she complained about something during one of management's own "employee engagement" feedback meetings!
