Thanks for the positive feedback about our total compensation and leadership culture. When it comes to our Work from Home Program, we have committed ourselves to our 50/50 hybrid model. This means that employees work from the office 50% of the time and from home 50% of the time. We also offer our employees an additional 10 WFH days for some extra flexibility. Combined with our other time-off programs, we’re confident this is the right balance to maintain our culture, create a great employee experience, and ensure we meet the needs of our business.

Pros

Great location in the financial district and flexible work hours. Employee share purchase plan. diverse and multicultural workforce. It looks good to have them on your resume. They increased employee engagement from 42% to 45% in about 1 year

Cons

They lie to their employees. Blatant favouritism runs rampant. Very low pay compared to industry standards. They are trying to run the company too lean so people are overworked. For most people working there it is a dead end job with little to no room for advancement. Their mission statement "To create greater good for their customers and business partners" is a complete joke as their actions are only to create greater good for Northbridge. Current employee engagement surveys rate engagement at only approximately 45%

Pros

Medical benefits are good, and are reviewed to make sure they are up to date. You can move up quickly but it depends on how well liked you are by your management team.

Cons

Increasingly acting dictatorial in work from home requirements. They have been tracking employees to make sure everyone comes in 50% of the time and any missed time needs to be accounted for. Threatening employees with letters for any days that were missed. The majority of employees have been asking for more flexibility for over a year and they have refused to modify the current work from home schedule. Currently employees are required to come into the office 3/2 days, every other week. Their reasoning is due to upholding the culture but unfortunately this has just bred a culture of resentment towards senior management. Employees are also overworked and underpaid. Everyone has to work unpaid overtime to complete the assigned work. Additional staffing is not provided even though it has been asked for. Recently revamped the pay raise schedule to be reviewed twice per year. This was touted as being better for employees but has resulted in employees getting 0% or minimal raises. Salaries do not factor for inflation and focus instead on market positioning. That said pay is lower than at other insurers for the same role.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback. As you’ve mentioned, our commitment to our employees’ personal and professional well-being includes providing opportunities for growth and a comprehensive total rewards package. This is reviewed frequently through extensive analysis of market data to ensure we remain competitive. Our work from home program, in addition to summer hours and early long weekend closures, is a key pillar of our culture. Combined with our time-away programs – including me days, well-being days, and our vacation purchase program – we feel that it helps to ensure work-life balance is a reality for our employees. Your concerns are important to us, and we encourage you to raise them with your people leader or our People & Culture team as your feedback can help shape the future of our employee programs and experience. We have also passed them on to the correct teams.
